A year ago I had the pleasure to meet Craig Spinks of "Recyle Your Faith." He interviewed me on camera, and we got onto a lot of subjects. Here's a fun one for Valentine's Day: Church and Sex. Yes in the same sentence. Or maybe I should say, "Christians and Healthy Sexuality.

is that how it was meant to end - with that question just hanging out there unanswered??? i thought you were just getting ready to give us all the answers :)
Yeah, kind of a cliffhanger. the original conversation was about 1 hour. I'm sure he'll roll out more soon!
I had my first experience of my sexuality relatively late (I've taken to saying that I had experiences at 30 I should have had at 17 - and all its accompanying psychosis) and I think you are spot on that the church does not teach me anything about how to go on living in a way that makes me feel sane. To speak plainly, I wish I could induce the flatline you speak of. Unfortunately, I have no desire to starve myself. Without understanding how my sexuality fits into my celibate life, I often wish my body dead - I've prayed for it. I have no answers. And my body feels totally useless to me.
as the gap between adolescence and marriage continues to widen we will only have to grapple with this question all the more. And with how sex gets demonized as a way to get single people to not do it, more people will have deep sexual issues that getting married doesn't magically fix.

Thanks for sharing this!! Once again I am so thankful for your words and experience. Is this part of a longer piece and if so where can it be viewed?
Hey Jesse! well, that was the entirety of that subject. However, my next book is all about this clusterfuzzle. Maybe Recycle Your Faith will post the unedited interview and we'll see (and I'll remember) how I got into that topic and out of it.
